An introduction to Paul Coyle

Director of the Entrepreneurial Ⓜ️indset Network

Paul Coyle is the Director of the Entrepreneurial Mindset Network which he founded in 2017. His vision is that everybody can benefit from having an entrepreneurial mindset. Connect with Paul on LinkedIn on Twitter and email him at director@emindset.network

From 2013-2017, Paul worked as a self-employed innovation consultant supporting HEIs around the globe to become more entrepreneurial: advising on curricula and teaching, training leaders to be more entrepreneurial and developing entrepreneurial organisational cultures. Participants at his workshops & presentations, on the theme of the entrepreneurial university, came from 420 HEIs in 59 countries.

Paul has been actively involved with the European Institute of Innovation and Technology for a number of years, undertaking peer review of applications to EIT Heath Campus and EIT E-Labs, and as a juror for the EIT CHANGE awards.

Paul is an expert advisor for HEInnovate, the online self-assessment tool for HEIs.  The tool has been developed with the support of the OCED and the European Commission. Paul is a member of the HEInnovate Expert Group, advising on the content and use of the tool.  He has led HEInnovate workshops with universities in England & Spain, and led national-level events in Scotland and in Wales.

Paul’s expertise is founded in a highly successful career in Higher Education spanning 28 years from 1995-2013, including 10 years working at executive level. He held senior posts (e.g. Pro Vice-Chancellor, Executive Dean with responsibility for a business school and Professor of Entrepreneurial Leadership) and worked in many academic disciplines (e.g. business, design, entrepreneurship, health, IT & management).

Paul is an alumnus of the 2010/11 inaugural Entrepreneurial University Leaders Programme (EULP), which was certificated by the Saïd Business School at University of Oxford. Subsequently, he held the role of EULP lead tutor/coach, ran leadership workshops and acted as the co-director for the programme. This experience underpins Paul’s deep understanding of the theory and practice of entrepreneurial leadership.
